We were expected to compare and discuss (Le Corbusier, Villa Le Lac, Lake Geneva, Switzerland, 1924.) and (Mies van der Rohe, Neue National Galleria, Berlin Germany 1968) in terms of theme, concepts and issues.
At first glance, I notice the tree in A and the middle figure in B, both centered in their respective pictures, creating a visual connection. In terms of themes, A exudes a sense of calmness, unlike B, which clearly involves movement and interaction between the paintings and humans. Although A lacks human interaction, there is interaction among nature's elements like the lake, mountains, trees. etc..
In both A and B, multiple layers (horizontal and vertical) are present. In A, the differences between these layers are more pronounced; we can see distant mountains. As B's farthest visible point is the windows. I think there are stronger framing relationships in B as it’s an enclosed area. In A, framing is only noticeable in the small hall within the wall. Additionally, B has repetition among the figures scattered throughout the space, whereas A does not exhibit clear repetition.
