Discussion Assignment: What Does Music Mean?

We were expected to discuss the assigned video "What Does Music Mean?"

Music is never about anything; music just is. As Leonard Bernstein said, ‘we’re asking a very hard question.’ The question ‘what does music mean’ is a hard one because I think there is no one specific answer. Even if the music or song has been written for a certain story or reason, the story may change from one person to another. Everyone will listen to it and understand it in the way they want or they feel. Music can make some people feel good, but it can make others feel bad or may remind them of a bad memory. It’s a part of human nature to like to listen to music. I think this statement is totally true. Even kids or babies, when they hear music, start dancing even though they don’t know the story (if there is one) or can’t understand the meaning of it. There are no reasons for music to be good. We can find the meaning of music just by listening to it. Music tells us feelings; it’s a good combination of sounds.
